AI Zi Wei Dou Shu: 7 Ready-to-Use Prompts for ChatGPT, Claude and DeepSeek

Don't let an AI calculate a Zi Wei Dou Shu chart itself; it often places stars wrongly. Why AI shouldn't calculate the chart

A Zi Wei chart starts by converting your birthday to the lunar calendar, handling leap months and the Zi hour that crosses midnight, then placing the fourteen main stars, the auxiliary stars and the Four Transformations by fixed rules. That is exact calculation, while language models like ChatGPT are built to write fluent text. The result is often a Life Palace in the wrong place and stars in the wrong palaces, explained with total confidence.

So the best division of labour is: the tool calculates, the AI interprets.

Three steps

1. Calculate: enter your birth details on the Zi Wei Dou Shu chart calculator.
2. Copy: on the result, press "Copy chart text". It includes all twelve palaces, every star, brightness, the birth-year Four Transformations and the decades.
3. Ask: open ChatGPT, DeepSeek or Claude, copy one of the prompts below, replace "[Paste chart text]" with your chart and send the whole thing.

A quick note: the chart text contains your birth date and time. If privacy matters to you, delete that line before pasting.

The answer rules in every prompt

Every prompt below starts and ends the same way. Those lines keep the AI honest:

• Don't recalculate, don't add stars: the most common AI mistake is filling in stars that aren't on your chart.
• Name the brightness of every star: the same star means very different things when it is bright and when it is weak.
• Read an empty palace through the opposite palace: a palace with no main star isn't "empty of meaning"; traditionally you borrow the main stars of the palace opposite it.
• Strengths and cautions, with a fix for each risk: so you get neither flattery nor scare stories.
• Cite the source: every conclusion should name the palace and star, so you can check it yourself.

Prompt 1: Personality overview

Prompt 2: Find the heart of the chart (Lu and Ji)

Among the birth-year Four Transformations, the palace holding Ji (attachment) is usually where you carry the most worry and pressure in life, and the palace holding Lu (resources) is where opportunities and support come more easily. Understand these two and you have the heart of the chart.

1. Which star carries Ji, and in which palace? What does that palace say about what I care about most and where I tend to get stuck?
2. Which star carries Lu, and in which palace? Where are my resources and opportunities?
3. Which palaces hold Quan and Ke, and what does each bring?
4. Are the Ji palace and the Lu palace opposite each other or in the same group of related palaces? What does that mean for me?
5. Finish with 3 concrete suggestions: how to make the most of Lu, and how to live with Ji.

1. What main stars sit in my Life Palace and Body Palace? Do they form one of the well-known star groups (for example Sha-Po-Lang, Ji-Yue-Tong-Liang, or Zi-Fu)? Only say so if the chart really fits, and explain why; if it fits none, say so plainly.
2. How strong are the Life Palace and its related palaces (Wealth, Career and Travel) taken together? Which helpful and difficult stars come in?
3. The Life Palace sits between the Siblings and Parents palaces. Do those two palaces hold a matching pair of stars that "flank" the Life Palace (for example Zuo Fu and You Bi, Wen Chang and Wen Qu, Qing Yang and Tuo Luo, or Di Kong and Di Jie)? What does that mean?
4. Sum up in one paragraph: what pace of life am I naturally suited to?

The "Current decade" in the chart text is worked out from the date you made the chart. To look at another decade, change point 1 to "Please read the decade covering ages [XX–XX]".

Make a chart for each person, copy each chart text, and paste both:

4. Give us 3 concrete suggestions for getting along. Do not judge whether we are "compatible" or "will end up together".

Point 3 is the most interesting part: wherever the other person's Lu star lands on your chart is an area where they tend to help you; wherever their Ji star lands is an area where they tend to give you something to worry about.

Prompt 7: One complete reading

For a full report from start to finish, use this prompt and ask the AI to write in a fixed order:

Why there is no prompt for this year

There is no "my luck this year" prompt here, on purpose. Reading a single year means knowing the year's stem and branch, where that year's Life Palace falls and where its Four Transformations land. All of that needs exact calculation, which is exactly what AI gets wrong most often, and the chart text you copy only covers your natal chart and your decades. Rather than let the AI guess the year, get the natal chart and this decade clear first.

How to tell when the AI is making things up

When you get an answer, check these points:

• Do the stars match? Is each star the AI mentions really in the palace it says? A glance at your chart will tell you.
• Has it added stars? If a star appears that isn't on your chart, it is filling in gaps.
• Is the brightness right? If it calls a star bright, does your chart actually say so?
• Does it give reasons? A good reading tells you "because your Life Palace holds such-and-such star", not just a conclusion.
• Is it too absolute? Take lines like "you will definitely divorce" or "you will never be rich" with a pinch of salt. Zi Wei Dou Shu describes tendencies, not verdicts.

If something is wrong, just tell it: "Use only the chart I pasted. Don't add or move any stars. Answer again." That usually fixes it.
